Lanotec – Timber Seal 

Timber Seal is a seasoned timber & decking finish. It enhances the natural grain and penetrates the wood surface. Timber Seal has been formulated to prevent drying, wood rot and splitting. Laboratory tested as well to reduce corrosion of metal fastenings and fittings.

Preparation

  • Untreated timber must be treated against mould and/or fungus spores.
  • Ensure the timber is clean and dry.
  • If the timber is freshly milled, or “green”, only apply inside joints and on bolts and fastenings then allow timber to weather.
  • For the timber which has been coated with decking oil previously, make sure that the coating is dried.
  • If the timber has turned grey due to weathering, sand surface lightly and clean thoroughly.

Application Guide


  • For decking surfaces and other dressed timber, Timber Seal is best applied with clean cloth or brushed or rolled.
  • For the underside of external decking and structural timbers, apply by spray, preferably prior to construction. Apply coats lightly and sparingly. Over application of the product will create a tacky finish.
  • The final coat of exposed dressed timber surface requires polishing/buffing to remove residue, maximize the protective seal and highlight the natural grains.
  • Timber Seal is compatible with most solvent and oil based paints, but is NOT compatible with water based acrylic coatings.
